Final weeks of 2023 – Flannery Family

We ended the final weeks of 2023 on a mission to help one family that have incurred several years of terrible uncertainty with ongoing battles as their inspirational young daughter has battles reoccurring brain tumors.

Meet the Flanner family from rural Boyup Brook in Western Australia. Father Nathan and Mother Kym have three daughters with middle daughter Peyton who turned 7 last November. Having battled and seemingly beaten three(!!) brain tumors since first diagnosed a month before Peyton turned 5, the family have recently been devastated by another tumor. It is fair to say that Peyton and the family have another battle ahead.

On the positive Peyton has shown enormous resilience, bravery, and the ability to maintain a wonderful sense of humour.

When the MMWIF board was contacted by the Kids Cancer Support Group to see if the family fitted our criteria of “Rural Families in Need” we unanimously voted in favour to give this family a well-deserved helping hand.

Making memories as a family was where we deemed, we could do the most good. Time of course was an issue with Peyton due shortly to start her next round of treatment. Thanks to the wonderful work of Naturaliste Travel out of Busselton WA, we were able to secure a rare vacancy just after Christmas on the Gold Coast for the family to go and have some fun and relaxation. As you can see by the photos… mission accomplished

From Kym

Thank you so much to the MMWI Foundation! What an incredible legacy Michael has left!

My family and I are truly blown away by your generosity, and beyond grateful for this opportunity and all that it will mean for our family!

Truly amazing!

We wish the family and most of all Peyton all the very best of luck and medical success for the future.
