Our latest beneficiary is most certainly an extraordinary deserving individual having herself dedicating much of her life caring for close family members in need and having the inner strength to overcome her own significant challenges and heartbreak that has come her way.
Kerry Harris lives in Castlemaine with her kids at school in Cambells Creek (central Victoria). Kerry has two children she is raising on her own after quite recently losing her beloved partner of 20 years. She also cares for her older sister.
It’s been a tough time for Kerry and her family, but her resilience has kept her going. Just when life was beginning to calm (slightly), Kerry received the confronting news that she has breast cancer and now faces the extra burden of three months of treatment that will involve fortnightly treatment in Bendigo.
When Kerry received her diagnosis and facing chemo, she decided to take back some control and set up a “HAIR WE GO….” Facebook event for family & friends that helped her countdown to shaving her head just yesterday. Kerry was a hairdresser many years ago and has been delighting her friends with photos of all sorts of hairstyles, colours and cuts over the past two weeks. It has also been a gentle way for her young children to get used to their mum losing her hair; that “mum can be crazy” and do all sorts of things with her hair, even shave it!
The MMWIF has stepped in to assist Kerry in softening the financial burden of travel and treatment, We sincerely wish for a quick recovery for Kerry and that her and her family are blessed with a huge change in luck very soon. We are so pleased we can help in this time of need.
Good luck Kerry Harris xx
