At the end of 2025 Joel was working hard in one of the most physically demanding professions, shearing.
On the 9th January 2026 our family were hit with the most unexpected news, our son Joel at the young age of 27 was been airlifted to the Alfred hospital with heart failure, his heart barley working at 10% capacity.
Joel spent 27 days in the Alfred including ICU; Joel has undergone a procedure to implant an implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) & Pacemaker.
Today 6 months on Joel is still receiving treatment and support on a weekly basis from the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne also the Royal Hobart Hospital here in Tasmania, Joel has been placed on the register for a heart transplant.
This journey at times has been tough.
